Tawheed in material assets (Clothes, Cars, Houses etc)
Tawheed in the context of clothes and cars can be about recognizing that these things are gifts from Allah, and using them in a way that is pleasing to Him. For example, choosing clothes that are modest and comfortable, or cars that are safe and reliable. It can also be about being grateful for what you have, and not being materialistic or obsessed with owning the latest and greatest things.
When one is acting opposite to this, i.e wearing designer clothes to show off, or buying cars for the purpose of showing others is deemed as shirk. The simplest way of explaining why, is due to the fact that Allah claims to be Ar-Razzaq (the sustainer), and when man is wondering the earth showing off he makes himself and others forget that Allah is the provider. Furthermore, this spreads corruption as it fuels the despairing in the mercy from Allah.
